Experienced healthcare executive -- turning her focus to bolstering the lives of seniors
Kristin D. Ashcraft, Founder & CEO - Wayfinder
Kristin with her grandmother, Maggie
My grandmother is my 'why.' Though we were 3,000 miles apart, we worked to stay connected.
My grandmother retired to a community that was geographically distant from most of her family. Over the years, her friends moved or ultimately, passed away and she stopped participating in the activities she had previously enjoyed like golfing, bridge, singing and volunteering in schools.
The Surgeon General's Report from May 2023, highlighting the negative impacts of loneliness and lack of social connection on our health led me to consider how my grandmother's life could have been different, had she continued to do more of the things she loved as she aged and in so doing, expanded her community and connections.
With 15 years of experience in healthcare working to positively impact the quality of life for patients of all ages through the combination of technology and clinical care, I felt now was the time to use my experience to support seniors. I created Wayfinder to help today's seniors combat loneliness through access to in-person activities that they know they love and by making it easier to explore new experiences. Through regular engagement in planned activities, communities are built improving the quality of independent living through social connection.
